ISNVD Annual Meeting 2011 – Ferrara-Bologna, March 13-15, 2011 Italy
2011-03-07

AMEDS Medical Team will attend ISNVD Annual Meeting held March 13-15 in Ferrara and Bologna.

The International Society for NeuroVascular Disease (ISNVD) is a non-profit professional association that has been established to further the development of research for neurovascular related diseases. Chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency (CCSVI) is one of ISNVD main interests.

The Conference is the largest global event on issues of CCSVI diagnosis and treatment. It is organized by ISNVD in cooperation with leading International Scientific Societies that deal with diagnostic tests on the venous system, such as the European Venous Forum, the International Union of Phlebology, the International Union of Angiology, the American College of Phlebology, Austral-Asian College of Phlebology, the Italian Society for Vascular and Endovascular Surgery and the Italian Society of Pathology of the Vascular Apparatus.

Among the invited speakers there are members of AMEDS Centrum Medical Team: PhD Maciej Zarębiński (AMEDS Centrum Medical Team Leader, Head of the Clinical Ward of Cardiovascular Diseases Diagnosis in Grodzisk Mazowiecki Western Hospital) and Professor Andrzej Cieszanowski (an acclaimed authority in the field of MRI imaging, member of AMEDS Centrum Advisory Board). They will be presenting two papers: Prevalence of internal jugular vein abnormalities on contrast-enhanced 3D T1 GRE MR images in patients with multiple sclerosis (Prof. A. Cieszanowski) and Short term evaluation of venous angioplasty in patients with chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency syndrome (PhD M. Zarebinski).

We are pleased to announce that the abstract by a member of our team, Professor A. Cieszanowski was awarded and will be presented in the best abstracts session.

The detailed 3 day conference schedule can be downloaded HERE (pdf).

$2.4 Million Grant Donation for CCSVI Research.
2011-02-12

UCSF,  one of the best medical institutions in the United States  recently began 7 new Chronic cerebro-spinal venous insufficiency syndrome research studies with a tidy sum of $2.4 million which was donated by the National MS Society in the US and the MS Society of Canada. While it's unclear if CCSVI directly contributes to MS disease activity, CCSVI liberation surgery patients who are also afflicted with multiple sclerosis have seen very positive results from the procedure.

Research applications underwent a meticulous accelerated evaluation which included a panel of experts from all medical disciplines including radiology, neurology, and vascular surgery. The two MS societies worked in conjunction to collect unbiased reviewers who would consider scientific merit, applications of CCSVI liberation surgery, how to approach the CCSVI study, probability of generating authoritative data, and sift through the onslaught of applicants to see who to admit.

CCSVI research studies have been popping up throughout the United States and Canada due to the positive results multiple sclerosis patients have received from undergoing liberation surgery. CCSVI liberation surgery has even been tied to MS depression but classically has seen best results with alleviating many of the other symptoms of MS such as unremitting pain. If you're interested in CCSVI liberation surgery to treat your multiple sclerosis, check out our patients testimonials and our video on You Tube: 3 days with Ameds.

AMEDS Centrum has reached a preliminary agreement with Dr Paolo Zamboni with regards to cooperation and mutual support in the area of CCSVI research and implementation of its results in CCSVI diagnosis and treatment.

As a part of the program:

  • members of AMEDS Centrum medical staff are scheduled to visit Dr Zamboni in the beginning of December and receive a full training in the area of CCSVI diagnosis, covering the latest version of the diagnostic protocol;
  • AMEDS Centrum is to participate in Dr Zamboni research program as one of select medical centers which are going to implement CCSVI specific research protocol;
  • AMEDS Centrum is to support Dr Zamboni in his CCSVI research program with diagnostic data and observation already collected since its inception.

The main goals of the research program are: an establishment of the second CCSVI diagnostic protocol and provision of scientific data assessing the effect of CCSVI treatment on the dynamics of the neurological changes in patients.

2010-10-25

AMEDS has been aware of the issue related to the letters sent to the Ministry of Health with regards to CCSVI treatment in Poland for some time now. We are looking at possibilities to provide relevant information to the Ministry of Health aimed at securing access to unbiased information regarding the results of international research, opinions of patients, and opinions of doctors that may be important to the Minister of Health in the process of discussions that may take place in the future.

At present we do not see any reasons for concern for patients as we are scheduling appointments between now and the end of January with an average waiting time of 30 days.

Also, we have a pleasure to announce that AMEDS Centrum since its inception has treated nearly 300 patients.

CCSVI is a medical condition where deoxygenated blood flow from the veins surrounding the brain and spine is slowed or blocked in its return to the heart. This condition arises mainly from blockage in the internal jugular and/or azygos veins.

CCSVI, Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency, has been recognized recently, thanks to Italian scientist Dr. Zamboni in majority of MS patients.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:
- Premium Echo Doppler Ultrasound System
- QDP Exclusive 3D Doppler Technology for multiple directional flow
- High sensitivity for Venous Low Flows
- CCSVI and VHISS (Venous Hemodynamic Insufficiency Severity Score) analysis, protocol and scoring system
- Dedicated measurements and reports
